Madam Lin (Fann Wong)
was a respected doctor in a small town. Her husband, Chen Ah Guang
(Xie Shaoguang) often feels that the male patients are
trying to take advantage of his beautiful wife. Therefore, he
is not very encouraging of his wife being a doctor.
One day, when Ah Guang was out to sea with his neighbour, Deng
Yuan (Huang Zhongyao), Madam Lin found that Deng Yuan's
wife was having an affair with another man. Their affair was also
discovered by Deng Yuan when he decided to go home last minute.
Deng Yuan was very upset and told Madam Lin that he could not
fulfill his duty as a husband as he was impotent. Madam Lin felt
sorry for Deng Yuan and wanted to cure him. But Deng Yuan beg
her not to spread the words.
For weeks, Madam Lin treated Deng Yuan secretly. Even Ah Guang
was kept in the dark! As time goes by, Ah Guang started to get
suspicious after hearing rumours about his wife and Deng Yuan.
He confronted Madam Lin and accused her of making him a cuckold.
Heart broken, Madam Lin committed suicide by jumping into a well.
The well gushes out red blood, turning the whole hill into 'red'.
This hill was later known as 'Red Hill'.
